Every time I listen to a record of this level, of this perfection, I instantly crumble into pieces. Believe me when I'm saying that the definition of music is truly delivering emotions through it, and if you don't believe me, well, you need to listen to Front Porch Step's Aware.

The record is made up of eleven songs, whom all together make up forty-two minutes of ecstasy. If there's someone in the whole music scene that's coming up (and not slowly), is Front Porch Step. This man simply can't stop delighting us with his tunes, with his heart-felt driven lyrics. Listening to this record is as stimulating as reading a coming-of-age novel. It really plays with you; the melodies make you feel light, somewhat happy, but the lyrics just tear you down to pieces, they give your head a different meaning of what listening to music is, of what loving is.

The whole album features Jake on vocals and on his acoustic guitar- one can't ask for more, really. Half of the album makes you want to fall in love, and the other half also, but this other half wants you to then get heartbroken so this songs can become the soundtrack of your demise. It would be completely stupid to say that the whole record is about love, though. For instance, Island Of The Misfit Boy is a previously released track, the track that took this guy to build a name for himself in the music scene.

The last track, I Won't Say That I'm Okay was the song that made me commit to the record. This song is just a train-wreck, the actual meaning of depression. This song made me feel things I thought were lost inside of me. It is about Jake's grandma, who passed away. The climax of the song, the moment in were I just broke down into pieces and felt like going to my grandmother's room and just look at her and smile that I still have her, was the outro, the spoken-word part. Jake's voice here will make you tremble, will make you feel what he feels, you will get depressed, sad, yes, you will feel sad. Listen to this song and tell me if I'm right:

With everything prior being said, I just can repeat the fact that this is a masterpiece, it goes further of what I expected it to be. There is a new lyrical genius in town and I'm glad that I'm alive to watch him grow into the poet he is.
