Hailing from D.C. Makeshift Shelters are here to blow our minds off with this new indie-emo-pop fusion.
The song starts off with a nice riff that sounds like it's been taken off a Smashing Pumpkins record. The vocals then come to us. Their vocalist, Ella harmonizes accordingly with the guitar, creating a unique sound for the band. The guitars vary from twinkle-style leads to defining power chords; both of this styles under a 90's garage-like distortion.
If you're into catchy choruses then you need to listen to this song. "Honestly, I’ve been picking apart
the reasons to not be." Will be the words stuck in your head for at least four days, trust me on that.
In general this song is swell. Something I personally love about the band is the way in which they relate everything; let me explain: the album artwork fits perfectly with the lyrics (at least from my perspective), the melody of the song also goes with the artwork, the whole idea of what the band is, is great. This is a band that will definitely create a name for themselves in the scene.
PS: Something I forgot to mention, this song goes for "name your price" on their Bandcamp, so you can get it for free, but hey, lets help them make it in the music world and give them some of the green stuff.
7/10
