Legendary punk rock band: NOFX, are here to delight us with a new record. This time they are delivering their new seven-inch: Stoke Extinguisher. The album was obviously released by Fat Mike's record label: Fat Wreck Chords. The record contains six songs, off which some are re-releases of some of their previous songs. a demo, and two completely new songs.
The album begins with the song entitled as the records- Stoke Extinguisher. The song features a nicely composed intro, which leads to a much more classic style NOFX; much more a melodic hardcore type of song, rather than a punk rock one. The song has a powerful vibe, marked drums, and guitar solos- all summing up to the fact that this song resembles NOFX's early years.
The next song, The Shortest Pier, takes a place on the other side of what I was previously talking about. This song resembles the sound that got NOFX into the music scene- a much more catchy punk-rock sound. The verses have palm-muted guitars and witty lyrics, all following up to one of the catchiest choruses they have written in their band-lifeline.
As I said at the beginning, the album features only two new songs, the other songs being a demo and re-releases of other songs they already put out.
The album is something nice in the sense that they keep releasing music for the fans and, well, for the hell of it. The fact that they featured only two new songs is sort of a bummer, but let's remember that they released a full-length last year, so the band might be working on something bigger and this is just a teaser. Let's also remember the fact that the band also held up a contest for us, fans, to direct and produce their new music video. Overall you can say that after several years, NOFX are still one of the hardest working bands in the scene.
